Lady Gaga has given Little Monsters something to buzz about today. The musician and actress posted an exclusive look of Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. This will be Gaga’s first starring film role since 2018’s A Star is Born where she ended up winning the Academy Award for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song). Unlike, A Star is Born, House of Gucci is not a sweeping romance but a biographical crime film based on the true story of the assassination of Maurizio Gucci potrayed by Adam Driver. Driver has recently received praise for his Oscar nominated performances in Marriage Story and Blackkklansman. He has also become a household name by playing major antagonist Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. In the aftermath of Maurizio’s death, things become even more complicated when the main suspect of the investigation becomes Gucci’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, played by Lady Gaga. This role is a far cry from the innocent starlet Ally whom Gaga portrayed in A Star is Born, but Lady Gaga has proven to be able to take on more sinister roles before evidenced by her critically acclaimed appearances in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. Her performance as The cold and vampiric Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel went on to earn her a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
The photo Gaga shared to Instagram includes our two main players in the story, however, this isn’t the end of the star studded cast. The Godfather star and acting heavyweight Al Pacino joins the film as the patriarch of the Gucci family while Jared Leto will play Driver’s brother. Also boarding the project are Watchmen’s Jeremy Irons and Penny Dreadful’s Reeve Carney with both actors suspected to play other members of the Gucci family. The cast is only expected to expand as filming continues.
House of Gucci began its production around early February, but things quickly went awry when back in Los Angeles, Gaga’s dog walker Ryan Fischer was hospitalized after getting shot. During the shooting, two of her French Bulldogs, Koji and Gustav, were taken while a third dog named Miss Asia escaped. Thankfully, two days later all three dogs were returned to the singer’s residence while Ryan Fischer was expected to make a full recovery. From the hospital, Fischer went on to thank Gaga for unwaveringly supporting him despite the stress of having her dogs stolen. We’re just happy that Fischer is happy and healthy as well as Gaga’s dogs!

Since House of Gucci just began its production, we’re going to have to keep a close eye on set pictures in order to get more information. Currently Driver and Gaga are shooting on the Weissmatten slopes in Gressoney, Italy. Several photos have revealed extensive skiing scenes involving the two actors. Considering the outfits matching up, this is where Gaga took the snapshot for her Instagram. Until it’s release date in late 2021, we can expect to see more breathtaking locations, campy outfits, and lavish activities from House of Gucci.
