It’s officially October, which means it’s time to start binge-watching every Halloween movie there is, and no one does it like Disney Channel! From the iconic Halloweentown series to fan-favorite Twitches, there’s something for everyone when it comes to cheesy, spooky-themed films.
Here is our list of the best Disney Channel Original Movies to watch this October to get in the Halloween spirit.
Hocus Pocus:
It’s important to start off with quality, which is why we are starting here with Hocus Pocus. This 1993 DCOM stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy as three evil witches who are awakened by a group of teens who visit the abandoned house where the witches once lived. This Kenny Ortega classic is definitely a Disney Channel Halloween staple and a great way to start your binge-watch this October!
Twitches and Twitches Too
Who doesn’t love twin witches?? Twitches and Twitches Too star real-life twins Tia and Tamera Mowry, who reunite on their 21st birthday. They then discover their magical powers which they must use to save their kingdom from the evil forces. Now, this sounds like a lot, but trust us, it’s incredible. Even better is Twitches Too, these twins are like the Halloween version of Mary Kate and Ashley in the best way possible. Twin witches are what you didn’t know was missing this fall, so if you haven’t seen Twitches, or if you haven’t seen it in the past 30 days, do yourself a favor and go watch it, and then go watch Twitches Too. Tia and Tamera are waiting for you!
My Babysitter’s a Vampire
This 2010 film is originally a Canadian Teletoon production, however, it did air on Disney Channel so it had to be included. My Babysitter’s a Vampire is possibly the most underrated Halloween movie there was on Disney Channel because it is definitely one of the funniest movies out there with a great cast. The highlight of this film is really the actors, no one can play these characters any better. Once you watch this movie and can’t get enough, there’s an even better television show for you to watch on Netflix! Simply cannot recommend this film enough, Benny and Rory will become your new favorite comedic duo without a doubt.
Halloweentown
You had to see this one coming! Halloweentown is every Disney fan’s Halloween staple, and even better… there are many sequels! Starring Debbie Reynolds and Kimberly J. Brown, this 1998 film focuses on a family going home with their grandmother to Halloweentown, where they uncover the truth about their family history. Of course, this involved witchery and evil like all the best films do! Halloweentown is probably the first film that comes to mind when you think Disney and Halloween, and rightfully so! This iconic film has earned its place as the number 1 Halloween DCOM. If you liked Halloweentown, be sure to check out the 3 other films in the series!
Girl vs Monster
Girl vs Monster is arguably one of the best DCOMs from the late 2000s, and half of the reasoning behind that is Luke Benward singing “Had Me @ Hello”. This action-packed DCOM stars Olivia Holt as a teenage daughter who has no idea that her parents are monster hunters. Things take a turn on Halloween and now Olivia Holt becomes the monster hunter! This movie is a gem that features an amazing soundtrack. Girl vs Monster is a great film to end your movie marathon.
Halloween is quickly approaching so it’s best to start preparing with these iconic Disney films!
