Spider Man No Way Home Fan Theories

Credit: Marvel & Sony Pictures Entertainment

The highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer was released last week, and fans are already racking up a list of intense theories about the plot.

Spider-Man: Far From Home left us with a massive post-credits cliffhanger… Mysterio revealing Spider-Man’s identity via the iconic J. Jonah Jameson and The Daily Bugle on a massive billboard in New York City. The abrupt ending sets up an interesting storyline for the third film, focusing on Peter Parker attempting to change reality and hide his identity. Actor J.K Simmons, who portrays Jameson, is a familiar face from the original Spider-Man trilogy. This can only lead to more questions, one of the most common being “Will Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield appear in this film?”. Only time will tell on these unanswered questions, but in anticipation for the new film, we are breaking down 6 crazy but totally possible fan theories about Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Sinister Six Are The Main Villains in Spider-Man: No Way Home

The trailer massively hints at the return of the Sinister Six, clearly showing off iconic characters like Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Electro. These features in the trailer can only mean one thing… The Sinister Six are coming and will be the main villains in No Way Home. While this theory has a lot of evidence to support it, including actual footage from the trailer, Marvel never gives away its secrets. Fingers crossed we see Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, and the rest of the crew on the big screen this December.

Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire Make Their Return

Tying right into the Sinister Six theory, many fans have been hoping for the possibility of a multiverse in the MCU Spider-Man films. This would include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men teaming up with Tom Holland to take on the Sinister Six. Now, this idea has been thrown around long before the No Way Home trailer was released, but is it possible it might finally come to life? Many fans have already come to terms with this fact, hoping for scenes like this one where the three heroes compare suits and spider-bilities. Here’s to hoping we get to see that Spider-Man meme come to life!

Dr. Strange Is Actually Mephisto

Dr. Strange seems to be acting…strange… in this new trailer. It’s hard to imagine he would alter the universe just to help out one Peter Parker. I mean, even in Endgame the man would only stick to the one outcome. So, is the trailer leaving out a major context for the film’s plot, or is there something fishy going on. Mephisto, aka Marvel’s version of the devil, is rumored to be playing some part in this Dr. Strange business. Theories have been swirling around since the airing of WandaVision, Disney Plus’ original show, that Mephisto plays a part in the birth of Wanda’s sons. It would not be unheard of for Mephisto to be lightly introduced in the show and then take on a larger role in a film. All we can say is that Dr. Strange is up to something. Hopefully, it ends up being a good something.

Kirsten Dunst’s MJ Makes a Return

Mary Jane Watson is the iconic love interest in the original Spider-Man trilogy, so it only makes sense for her to return alongside the other characters. Gwen Stacy would also be one to include, but unfortunately, her character passed away in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, leaving many fans heartbroken. While this theory is based on the return of Tobey and Andrew, a few paparazzi pictures got Twitter talking, as Dunst was spotted with Daredevil actress Deborah Ann Woll near the Spider-Man reshoot location. Take a look for yourself.

Mysterio Is Still Alive

Spider-Man: Far From Home ended with the death of Mysterio and a secret video revealing Spider-Man’s identity to the world. This surprise ending left many fans shocked in their seats, as this did not seem like a bounce-back situation for Peter Parker. Now that we have a look at a multiverse and the Sinister Six taking charge, it isn’t an outlandish thought that Mysterio is actually alive. He is technically a part of those six, so would it be right to do it without him?

Flash Is Besties With Peter Now

Finally, we caught a glimpse of the real villain, Flash. No, really, Flash was Peter Parker’s biggest bully but Spider-Man’s biggest fan. What happens now? Glimpses of a stereotypical blonde Flash were caught in the trailer as he trails behind Peter and MJ amid the identity chaos. We would love to see a Flash and Peter friendship for once. Or what about 3 of Flash? That would really add to the essence of the multiverse.

Unfortunately, Spider-Man: No Way Home isn’t released in theaters until December. However, that gives us plenty of time to think through these possible situations for the third film! All we need is Tom, Tobey, and Andrew in the same room, and there’s nothing to worry about.
