Pretend It’s a City
If you’re in the mood to: have fun with Martin Scorsese
If you’re a fan of New York, Fran Lebowitz, Martin Scorsese, Dorothy Parker, or being entertained by wildly interesting stories, this one’s for you. Even if you’ve never heard of any of the above, this limited series is the perfect watch for a good laugh and a few great stories. This is a light watch documentary that is for anyone missing that NYC spirit or needing a reminder of why Times Square sucks.
Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer
If you’re in the mood to: have the crap scared out of you
If you’re a lover of true crime, Night Stalker is impossible to stop watching. Fair warning, this one is a little graphic imagery-wise, even for true crime enthusiasts. The docuseries follows investigators on the hunt for one of the most vicious serial killers terrorizing the streets of LA in the ‘80s. If you decide to watch, be sure to check out the cautions and definitely don’t watch alone!
Wine Country
If you’re in the mood to: laugh until you pee a little
This film gives big Bridesmaids vibes. Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, and more SNL alumnae go to wine country for a birthday weekend that is a gorgeous good time. This one came out in 2019 but I put it on any time a good pick-me-up is needed.
Sister Sister
If you’re in the mood to: feel nostalgic
Sister Sister is on Netflix in case you didn’t know! That is all. If you miss seeing Jackée Harry everyday after school, same. If you’ve never seen it before, this 90’s sitcom is just as funny today and definitely worth the watch!
The Next Three Days
If you’re in the mood to: be stuck on the edge of your seat
This 2010 Gerard Butler/Elizabeth Banks thriller was in Netflix’s Top 10 last week, so I gave it a shot and it did not disappoint. The film runs 2 hours and 13 minutes, so I was hesitant to commit, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. If you’re like me and feel like you’ve seen every action/thriller movie…ever…I highly recommend!
We think these are all amazingly entertaining choices, but the best part about Netflix is the level of commitment needed. If you’re not invested, change it! It was free! Happy watching!
