Halloweentown has made a name for itself as one of the most well-known Halloween movies of all time. If you haven’t seen this movie before, it is an absolute must, filled with valuable life lessons, such as the importance of being true to yourself. It also highlights very brave and well-rounded female characters, such as Grandma Aggie and Marnie, as well as two exciting “High School Musical” cast members, Lucas Grabeel and Olesya Rulin. You have to give this one a watch!

Shrek is the ultimate tale of love and friendship. This heartwarming flick captures our hearts each and every Halloween (although we admit, we watch it year-round). Freeform has really spoiled us with this year’s “31 Nights,” including not only Shrek in the 2021 lineup but also Shrek 2 and Shrek Forever After.

Casper

“Can I keep you?” – Casper

The iconic Casper the Friendly Ghost has been a Halloween staple for as long as we can remember (and we remember you, Devon Sawa!) Over 25 years later, and we’re still not over human Casper transcending down the stairs. Not to mention, we would watch absolutely anything with Christina Ricci in it.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride

“I’ve spent so long in the darkness, I’d almost forgotten how beautiful the moonlight is.” – Emily

We love a classic Romeo and “Ghouliet” story. This film ticks all of our Halloween boxes, filled with Tim Burton’s signature characters, unique visual style, and gorgeous music. If you are a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas, you will absolutely love this one.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 1p/12c

“The best kind of prize is a *sur*prise!” – Willy Wonka

Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Willy Wonka in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” has had a hold on us since childhood. From the set and the cast to the songs, colorful, and eccentric costumes, this movie was way ahead of its time (even for 2005).
