The iconic film Legally Blonde is celebrating its 20th anniversary! That’s right—the world was introduced to the incomparable Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) 20 years ago! We imagine her throwing a dazzling pink bash to mark the occasion. That got us thinking: how might we get to see more of Elle and the gang’s endeavors?
1) A threequel
We’d love to see some of the original cast reunite for a third Legally Blonde film. The great news is, we’re getting just that! That’s right, Legally Blonde 3 is in the works, and it’s set to be released in May 2022. While the full cast hasn’t been revealed yet, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Coolidge will both be reprising their roles. What are Elle and Paulette up to these days? We’ll just have to wait and see.

2) A movie musical
The Legally Blonde musical premiered back in 2007, so why not translate some of those songs to a movie version? We think it would be fun for a wider audience to see Elle singing and dancing through her journey at Harvard (lots of bend and snaps included).
3) A TV show or miniseries
There are plenty of stuffy legal dramas out there. Perhaps audiences would enjoy a change of pace in the form of a comedy series about Elle’s legal practice. Alternatively, it might be nice to see a series covering her run for political office, which was hinted at in Legally Blonde 2.
4) A line of cruelty-free beauty products
It’s fun when brands bring fictional products into the real world. In Legally Blonde 2, Elle fought to end product testing on animals, including the mother of her beloved dog Bruiser. With this in mind, perhaps a beauty collab of bright, colorful, cruelty-free Elle Woods products is in order. Bonus points if they’re designed by Reese Witherspoon herself.
What do you think of these ideas? Are there any other expansions to the Legally Blonde universe that you’d like to see?
