Disney princesses have changed a lot since Snow White. Female leads have evolved from fragile princesses to iconic heroes. For women’s history month, we are taking a look at 5 times Disney princesses were total badasses!

Raya vs. Namari – Raya and The Last Dragon

Raya is one of the most badass Disney princesses of all time. Not only is she a warrior with serious battle skills, but she essentially goes on a journey to save Kumandra entirely alone.

One of her most powerful scenes is when she goes to confront Namari after Sisu’s death. Both Raya and Namari show off their skills in an epic battle. These two women can’t be messed with!

Rapunzel Traps Flynn- Tangled

Rapunzel is easily one of the most naive characters of all Disney movies. We can’t blame her since she was locked in a tower for most of her life. Despite this, when Flynn Rider broke into her tower she knew exactly what to do. She grabs a cooking pan, knocks him out and ties him up with her hair. Not to mention, Pascal the chameleon was there to back her up. Throughout the movie, Rapunzel only grows stronger as she explores the real world.

Moana Faces Teka- Moana

“I am Moana of Motunui. You will board my boat, sail across the sea, and restore the heart of Te Fiti.” – Moana

There was no hesitation in that statement, Moana knew what she wanted. This iconic princess goes against her family’s rules, steals a ship, crosses the ocean and confronts a lava monster. Can it get better than that?

Tiana Defeats Dr. Facilier- Princess and The Frog

Tiana is one of the most ambitious Disney princesses ever created. Before turning into a frog, she worked endlessly to achieve her dream of opening her own restaurant.

Throughout her journey with Prince Naveen, she is clearly the one leading the way. When she is faced with the temptation of getting her dream from the evil Dr. Facilier, she still chooses hard work and defeats him.

Merida Beats Her Suitors- Brave

In the Disney movie Brave, Merida is being forced to get married to one of her potential suitors. In this iconic scene, Merida beats all of her suitors in archery. Throughout the movie she has multiple iconic moments as she fearlessly takes on every challenge brought upon her.
