Dunkirk (2017) Review | Action Movie Anatomy

Action Movie Anatomy hosts Ben Bateman and Andrew Ghai break down 2017’s Dunkirk! Follow the show at @AMAPodcast and the hosts @BenBatemanMedia & @AndrewGhai!

Dunkirk is a 2017 English-language war film written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Fionn WhiteheadTom Glynn-CarneyJack LowdenHarry StylesAneurin BarnardJames D’ArcyBarry KeoghanKenneth BranaghCillian MurphyMark Rylance, and Tom Hardy. Set during the Second World War, it portrays the Dunkirk evacuation. Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is an international co-productionbetween the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and the Netherlands.

Nolan wrote the script, told from three perspectives—the land, sea, and air—to contain little dialogue and create suspense solely through details. Filming began in May 2016 in Dunkirk, France, and ended in Los Angeles, United States, where it also began post-production. Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema shot the film on IMAX 65 mm and 65 mm large formatfilm stock. The film made extensive use of practical effects, such as employing thousands of extras, assembling boats that had participated in the real Dunkirk evacuation, and using genuine era-appropriate planes for aerial sequences.

Host & Producer Marielou Mandl (@MarielouMandl) interviews Gary Kordan!

Gary Kordan, the Emmy-nominated production designer who has made an indelible impression on the world of TV comedy. Gary is one of this year’s heavyweight Emmy contenders thanks to his work in constructing the on-screen worlds of three award-winning shows:

· Nobodies, produced by Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone, TV Land

· Teachers, executive produced by Alison Brie, TV Land

· Just Add Magic, critically acclaimed Amazon Original Kids series

With Nobodies and Teachers being TV Land’s top original series, Gary can talk about rewriting the parameters of design in comedy TV and how he has created the mysterious, layered vintage and surprisingly dark look of Just Add Magic (and how the kids contributed).

Emmy-nominated for Key & Peele and The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert, he is also known for his work on Time Traveling Bong, The Meltdown, @midnight and Workaholics. Soon viewers will also see his work on FOX’s new comedy, Ghosted, premiering this October, starring Adam Scott and Craig Robinson.

Michael Alago and Drew Stone discusse Who The F*ck Is That Guy? on iTalk Movies

iTalk movies is a long-form interview series featuring leading members of the film community. In this episode, our host Alison Dean interviews Michael Alago and Drew Stone about their project WHO THE F**K IS THAT GUY? on the Popcorn Talk Network.

WHO THE F**K IS THAT GUY? takes viewers inside the incredible life of Michael Alago, a gay Puerto Rican kid from Brooklyn who went on to shape and reinvent the world’s musical landscape — first as a 19-year-old talent booker at the legendary Ritz nightclub in New York City and then as a 24-year-old A&R exec at Elektra Records who signed Metallica, White Zombie and worked with other notable artists including Nina Simone, John Lydon and Cyndi Lauper. The film tells the tender, loving and sometimes self-destructive story of a man who “just loved music.” He had the passion to bring it to the world on his terms and lived to talk about it. Barely.

Alago succeeded professionally as a gay man in a metal music sub-culture known for its perceived homophobia. Alago survived the AIDS crisis and addiction and re-invented himself as a visual artist, poet and published art photographer.

Legally Blonde Musical Discussion – Broadway Breakdown

Hosts Briana Phipps, Jacque Borowski, Carla Renata and Ally Nasta discuss the musical Fun Home.

Legally Blonde is a musical with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and bookby Heather Hach. The story is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. Throughout the show, no one has faith in Elle Woods, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.

Legally Blonde premiered in pre-Broadway tryouts in San Francisco, California. In April 2007 the show moved to Broadway, opening to mostly positive reviews and grossed more than $1,000,000 a week on several occasions. Jerry Mitchell directed and choreographed. The original cast starred Laura Bell Bundy as Elle, Christian Borle as Emmett and Richard H. Blake as Warner. It received seven Tony nominations and ten Drama Desk nominations but did not win any. The West Endproduction opened in January 2010 at the Savoy Theatre. The West End production was nominated for five Laurence Olivier Awards and won three, including the Best New Musical award.

The musical was recorded in September 2007 and aired on MTV in October 2007. Following this, a reality television program was aired showing the audition process for the next person to play Elle Woods on Broadway. The winner was Bailey Hanks, who played the role from July 23, 2008 until the production closed on October 19, 2008. The Runner up, Autumn Hurlbert was Hanks’ understudy.
