David Bloom talks Wannabe on iTalk Movies

iTalk movies is a long-form interview series featuring leading members of the film community. In this episode, our host Michael Clouse interviews David Bloom in studio about Wannabe on the Popcorn Talk Network. Hope you are having a wonderful day. I wanted to let you know that Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp actor David Bloom will be starring in the upcoming short film Wannabe. Including actors Malcolm Jamal-Warner (FX’s People v. O.J. Simpson) and Donis Leonard Jr. (Showtime’s House of Lies), this film will be making its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2016. This film depicts a story that is deeply personal for writer / director Matthew Manson, because it is based on his own experiences growing up in New York. The film takes place during the zenith of the Crown Heights Riots, in 1990s New York City. This was a time of immense racial and political strife, and sadly, very little has changed since then. However, this film offers a spark of light that fought its way through the darkness of those times. It tells the story of Daniel (Bloom), an anxious Jewish boy, who develops a crush on his Caribbean classmate, Emefa. To win her over, he must overcome his Jewish neuroticism and impress her skeptical Jamaican family. @ThePopcornTalk
