It’s October and you know what that means! It’s time for candy, ghost stories, and most importantly – scary movies!

With Halloween just around the corner, we know that you’ll be bundled up inside searching for something good to watch, so we figured we’d make it a little easier for you!

Here’s our list of the best scary movies you can watch on Netflix this October.

Hubie Halloween

This Adam Sandler produced film will be hitting Netflix on October 7th. Starring Noah Schnapp, this film takes place on Halloween night in Salem, MA. Young Hubie realizes people in town have started going missing, and it’s up to him to investigate what’s going on. We’re really looking forward to this comedy horror film and we will certainly be watching when it’s released!

His House

A refugee couple escapes South Sudan and finds their way to an English town. Unbeknownst to them, this town is hiding some seriously dark secrets! Originally premiering at Sundance earlier this year, this film will appear on Netflix October 30th, just in time for Halloween!

The Autopsy of Jane Doe

This 2016 film follows a father and son coroner duo as they perform an autopsy on an unknown body, AKA Jane Doe. After a series of odd findings during the autopsy, things get rather intense. This movie is a personal recommendation of mine. I watched it with a group of friends and we all had a blast.

Poltergeist

This 1982 horror classic does not need an introduction, but in case you need a refresher, it follows a family fighting off unwanted spirits in their home. These poltergeists communicate with them through their television set. This is the perfect movie to put on and impress your hipster Tinder date.

The Addams Family

Halloween movies don’t all need to have you shaking in your boots. If you’re looking for something a little less on the scary side and a little more lighthearted, The Addams Family is perfect for you! This classic film is quirky and moody, a perfect choice to get you in the Halloween spirit!

Eli

This eerie film revolves around a boy with an “incurable mystery illness”. His family seeks treatment for him at a very suspicious facility and things get weird. This film is filled with plot twists at every corner.

Silence of the Lambs

Another classic film available to you on Netflix, Silence of the Lambs, is not for the faint hearted. This film fits the true definition of psychological thriller. Featuring a cunning cannibal, this film is sure to creep you out at night.

Goosebumps

Okay, so it’s not the Goosebumps film, but I would argue that 5 seasons of this iconic television show is even better. Odds are you’re familiar with this series based on the famous R.L. Stine novels. Whether you’re looking for some creepy fun or nostalgia, we recommend revisiting this series on Netflix!
