The wait is finally over! We now know the cast to the highly anticipated sequel to Suicide Squad, and the roster is stacked.
James Gunn took to Twitter to reveal the major players who will be causing havoc in the next film, and along with some familiar faces, there is also some new blood entering the game. But warning, the reveal came with a warning, “Don’t get too attached.”
John Cena, Idris Alba, and Pete Davidson are just a few of the big names who will be making their debut in the franchise, while Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Margot Robbie will be reprising their roles. The biggest OMG moment, though, is who is not on the list. Noticeably absent is Will Smith, who played Deadshot, and Jared Leto, who played the iconic Joker in the first film.
2016’s Suicide Squad was a box office smash, raking in $750 million world wide. The film told the story of a group of supervillains forced to work for the government and save mankind.
Not much is known about this next chapter in the franchise, including who these new faces will play. We do know that the youngest person on this list, Euphoria’s Storm Reid is rumored to play the daughter of Idris Alba’s Character.
Warner Bros. also confirmed that the sequel will be released on August 6, 2021, with James Gunn looking to start production in Atlanta sometime this month.
