Good Boys First R-Rated Comedy to Open at #1 in Three Years

Good Boys majorly exceeded expectations over the weekend, and was rewarded with the #1 spot at the box office.
The comedy took in over $21 million in the United States, becoming the first R-rated comedy to open at the top spot since The Boss, starring Melissa McCarthy, in April of 2016.

The film, produced by Seth Rogan, follows three 6th grade boys who play hooky and go on an adventure involving girls, stolen drugs, and a massive party. The movie stars Jacob Tremblay, Keith Williams, and Brady Noon.
Good Boys took in an additional $2 million internationally for a total of $23 million globally.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw moved down one spot to #2, taking in $14 million, while The Lion King rounded out the top 3 with a $12 million weekend.

Hobbs & Shaw went over the $400 million mark this week with international box office included. The film currently sits at $438 million. The Lion King has a billion dollar lead on Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs, currently sitting at $1.437 billion at the box office.
