Disney has officially set the record for the most billion dollar movies made in a single year by one studio, and it’s only August!
Toy Story 4 passed the billion dollar mark in global box office sales on Thursday, almost two months after it first premiered in theaters. The movie has brought in $422 million in the United States and another $580 million around the world.
Disney had already passed the billion dollar mark with Avengers: Endgame ($2.79B), The Lion King ($1.34B), Captain Marvel ($1.12B), and Aladdin ($1.03B).
It has been an incredible year for Disney, and they still have some major films still coming out. Frozen 2 comes out in November and the latest movie in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, comes out in December. Both movies could pass the $1 billion mark.
Additionally, Disney+ will likely give a boost to all Disney properties when it debuts on November 12th.
