Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson have teamed up together for the return of Saw! Lionsgate released the first official trailer for Spiral, from the Book of Saw, leaving us with so much excitement.

Like the other movies in the franchise, the trailer dropped cryptic nuggets of information, revealing not much more than our two leads and little cookie crumbs for what’s to come.

Rock, who pitched the idea to Lionsgate, stars as a cop investigating a murder spree revolving around the death of others in the force. There’s a man out there targeting cops, in typical Saw fashion, and Rock’s character will need to find a way to stop him. The trailer begins on a bright, sunny shot, but then quickly switches to the darkness and hints of gore typical among the other Saw movies.

Though we have a new cast, Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III, and IV) returns to direct, and both Oren Koules and Mark Burg are back as producers.

Initially, Spiral had been slated for an October release, but after Universal announced Halloween Kills for mid-October, Lionsgate switched Saw’s opening to May 15th, 2020, making this the first film in the franchise to open outside of October.

Will this reboot live up to some of the better Saw films? We’ll have to wait about four months to solve one of cinema’s greatest riddles.
