Bob Iger Steps Down as CEO of Disney

The Walt Disney Company has come to the end of an era, as CEO and Chairman Bob Iger will step down and Disney will be transitioning a new commander in chief, Bob Chapek.

Bob Iger has had a tremendous and revolutionary game-changing career….Iger took over as CEO of Disney in 2005, he has expanded the company, leading acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm. 2019 alone was a big year for Disney as it 71.3 billion dollar acquisition of 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlights. The company had an unprecedented seven blockbusters hit the $1 billion mark at the box office globally.

Bob Chapek has been with the company since 1993 and is the chairman of Disney Parks since 2018. Chapek will be the seventh CEO and will report to Iger and the board of directors. “I am incredibly honored and humbled to assume the role of CEO of what I truly believe is the greatest company in the world,” Chapek said. “Bob Iger has built Disney into the most admired and successful media and entertainment company, and I have been lucky to enjoy a front-row seat as a member of his leadership team,” Chapek said in a statement on CNN.

Iger will lead the board as executive chairman through his contact’s end on December 31, 2021.
