There has been a lot of talk about the lack of representation we have in our media today. It is important to recognize this and work on it.

Lifetime is (finally!) having an LGBTQ+ couple lead the upcoming movie The Christmas Setup

Ben Lewis, known for Scott Pilgrim vs the World and more recently Arrow, will star alongside his real-life husband Blake Lee in this holiday rom-com.

Lifetime posted this movie as well as the lineup for the rest of their upcoming holiday movies on Instagram.

According to Deadline, “The Christmas Setup follows the story of New York lawyer Hugo (Lewis) who heads to Milwaukee with his best friend Madelyn (Wong) to spend the holidays with his mom Kate (Drescher), who is also in charge of the local Christmas celebrations. Ever the matchmaker, Kate arranges for Hugo to run into Patrick (Lee), Hugo’s high school friend and secret crush, who has recently returned after a successful stint in Silicon Valley. As they enjoy the local holiday festivities together, Hugo and Patrick’s attraction to each other is undeniable and it looks as though Kate’s Santa-style matchmaking is a success. But as Hugo receives word of a big promotion requiring a move to London, he must decide what is most important to him.”

The movie is set to premiere on December 12, 2020 and was written by Michael J. Murray and directed by Pat Mills.

Fans of Lifetime’s holiday movies were stoked to finally see representation and tweeted their excitement. Check out some of these tweets!

Both actors posted to their individual Instagram pages when the announcement of the movie came out. Here is what Ben Lewis had to say:

I can’t wait to watch this movie as well as all the other holiday movies Lifetime has stacked up for us this year. Lets keep moving forward with more representation and more diversity!
