The Legally Blonde cast reunited yesterday for a virtual panel discussion moderated by Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Fineman. The cast officially came together after almost two decades since the film’s release in 2001. The most jaw-dropping revelation? On top of that fans can expect another bend and snap from Elle Woods when she returns in Legally Blonde 3 in May 2022!

“Of all the movies that I’ve made there is one that comes up more than any other and that is Legally Blonde, and I think it’s because of Elle Woods. ” Reese Witherspoon explained. “I think she just inspired people to believe in themselves. She just has a true sense of herself and she always wants to see the best in others.”

Witherspoon’s media company, Hello Sunshine, is set to produce the third installment of the franchise. Marc Platt, one of the original producers of the MGM film, will also be returning. The Emmy Award-winning actress will reprise her role as the iconic pink-wearing lawyer, Elle Woods. And just a reminder, Elle nearly got a perfect LSAT score with a 179 out of 180. Pretty impressive!

The reunion premiered on the Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine YouTube channel, where she kicked off the event by spotlighting the nonprofit World Central Kitchen. The Legally Blonde reunion raised over $22,000 for the organization within one day of the stream. World Central Kitchen continues providing food relief for families in need and first responders around the United States.

Witherspoon had seen a YouTube video of Fineman impersonating her character from Big Little Lies, so she direct messaged the SNL comedian and invited her to the reunion! Ava Phillippe also saw Fineman reenact the closing trial scene from Legally Blonde and immediately called her mom to let her know. Ava was just one year old when the romantic comedy was released!

The reunion featured Luke Wilson (Emmett), Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette), Holland Taylor (Professor Stromwell), and many other unforgettable faces from the film. Matthew Davis, aka Warner, also joined the group later in the video.

According to Witherspoon and Coolidge, the legendary bend and snap scene was an entire musical sequence that was filmed for a month. It was eventually cut out of the movie because it would have been the only musical number in the rom-com. Other secrets and special moments from Legally Blonde were revealed by the castmates during the virtual discussion. Jessica Cauffiel (Margot) even described how she helped Alanna Ubach (Serena) land the role after the two met in a bathroom during auditions.

Witherspoon first shared that the third movie was happening back in June 2018 with an Instagram post. The release date, however, wasn’t confirmed until the video get together. Anyone can watch the 22-minute long Legally Blonde reunion here!
