Have you ever wondered what your favorite villain pair were up to before Beauty and the Beast? Well you’re in luck because Josh Gad and Luke Evans are teaming back up again to reprise their roles as Gaston and Lefou. Disney Plus is supplying their origin story, says The Hollywood Reporter. The creators behind Once Upon A Time (Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz) will be showrunners and executive producers. Let’s not forget that Kitsis and Horowitz have already explored the Beauty and the Beast world on Once Upon A Time.
Josh Gad not only will be starring as LeFou but he will also be adding showrunner, executive producer, and co-writer to his title on this project.
Though the project is currently untitled and in the early development stage, it will be a limited series six-episode musical event, with Disney Legend Alan Menken in talks to return as well. Alan Menken has created the most incredible Disney classic songs from Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and of course Beauty and the Beast.
While fans on Twitter are split about how they feel about Disney’s latest live action tv series, one fan is excited as he captioned, “Gaston is my homie. I am all in for this.”
Another fan of Twitter had the opposite reaction to the news. He tweeted, “List of things I do not want to see and did not in fact ask for: a live action Beauty and the Beast prequel series on Disney+ about Gaston and LeFou.”
Another fan had a very interesting question in regards to the prequel news and tweeted, “Is Disney going to actually handle Lefou’s queerness in the Beauty and the Beast prequel?”
There’s only one important question left to answer. Will You Be Their Guest?
