In this show, AOM hosts John Comerford, Sara Stretton, and Phil Svitek discuss the 2013 film Saving Mr. Banks, a film directed by John Lee Hancock. The film centers on the life of Travers, shifting between 1906 with her childhood in Queensland, Australia and the 1961 negotiations with Walt Disney about her character or Mary Poppins. While in California for pre-production, Travers thinks back to her difficult childhood in Australia, most especially to her father, the inspiration for the role of the story’s patriarch, Mr. Banks. The film stars Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks and Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, and Bradley Whitford. It’s composed by Thomas Newman. The hosts discuss everything from filmography, to casting/acting, directing, cinematography, editing, score, sound editing, etc. HELPFUL LINKS: IMDB Page – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2140373/ Official Saving Mr. Banks Website – http://movies.disney.com/saving-mr-banks Saving Mr. Banks Trailer – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujxpk2IdDmM Saving Mr. Banks Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/SavingMrBanks Story Behind Saving Mr. Banks – http://mentalfloss.com/article/51926/story-behind-saving-mr-banks-starring-tom-hanks-walt-disney Music Behind Saving Mr. Banks Video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T9ZjWYpJiU Wiki Page – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saving_Mr._Banks LA Times Article – http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/moviesnow/la-et-mn-disney-mary-poppins-saving-mr-banks-travers-20131228,0,5785246.story#axzz2p0bGrtsq Colin Farrell Cries at Screening – http://www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/451011/Colin-Farrell-cried-while-watching-Saving-Mr-Banks Hypable.com Article on Movie – http://www.hypable.com/2013/12/30/saving-mr-banks-doesnt-quite-save-disney/
